Merlene passed suddenly on August 5th, 2012.
Merlene was born on September 18, 1940 in Spokane, WA, to Bernice and Merle Jones.
Merlene turned her passion for ceramics into a successful business, The Hen House, which operated in Spokane for many years.
Merlene received her first “Freddie” award in 1978, and went on to receive several of the Inland Empire Ceramic Association’s highest honor the “Peggy” awarded for Best of Show in the professional division.
Most recently, she taught a ceramics course through Community Colleges of Spokane at the Hillyard Senior Center.
Merlene was an independent and giving woman who always thought of others before herself.
She is survived by family and many friends and will be deeply missed.
There will be a private family gathering.
