Roy A. Anderson, Sr. passed away January 30, 2012 in Spokane.
He was born May 26, 1913 in Republic, WA the son of Charles E. and Inga (Erickson) Anderson.
After graduating from WSC in 1936, he was a geologist in Bolivia for 15 years.
Then he became the chief geologist and mining engineer at the Pend Oreille Mines in Metaline Falls, WA for 12 years.
Roy earned his PhD and worked for the Department of Ecology from 1972-1987 until he was 74!
Roy relished being part of a big extended family; he was very devoted to his wife, children and grandchildren; he enjoyed his career and continued learning throughout his entire life.
Roy was preceded in death by his loving wife of 58 years Erminia “Minnie” Anderson in 1998.
He is survived by his son Roy A.
(Joyce) Anderson, Jr. of Walla Walla, WA; daughter Inga Boyles of Spokane; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Vigil services will be Friday, February 3, 2012 at 7pm and will be conducted at the funeral home.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, February 4, 2012 at 10am and will be celebrated at St. Anthony Catholic Church, 2320 N. Cedar, Spokane, WA with committal to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
