HENSON, Gerald O.


June 22, 1927 ~ January 21, 2012

Jerry passed away peacefully Saturday, January 21, 2012 at his home in Deer Park, WA.

He was born near Colfax, WA to Joel and Stella (Crider) Henson on June 22, 1927.

He attended Thornton Grade School and graduated from Rosalia High School in 1946 as class president and with an athletic scholarship.
Jerry retired from Consolidated Supply Company after 34 years where he was privileged to work for Jack and Tom Newpert.
He shared his love of the outdoors with his family and close friends, enjoying camping, boating, fishing and hunting.

Jerry was an avid gardener, always in search of the best flower and vegetable plants.

He took pleasure in sharing his abundant garden harvest, especially zucchini and tomatoes.
He loved all sports, basketball, football, baseball and in later years, especially golf.

Jerry was an enthusiastic “Zags” fan and enjoyed cheering for his team.

After retirement, Jerry worked at the golf course in Desert Hot Springs, CA, where he and his wife, Arlene, wintered for 15 years.

He recently worked at the Pro Shop at Sun Lakes, WA, when they returned to the area to be closer to family.


Jerry is survived by his loving wife, Arlene, of almost 50 years and six children, Timothy (Kim) Henson, Gary Busch, Victoria (Bud) Meacham, Karen (Paul) Malone, Gayle (Barry) Husfloen, and Debra (Charlie) Main.

He is also survived by sister, Sandy (Ray) Setters and brother-in-law, Don (Ann) Andersen; 18 grandchildren, 29 great- grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Joel and Stella Henson and his brother, Richard Henson.
The family would like to thank Evergreen Oncology, Horizon Hospice, Cancer Patient Care, Hospice of Spokane and American Cancer Care.

Memorial contributions may be made in Jerry’s memory to Horizon Hospice or Cancer Patient Care.

A memorial service will be held Friday, February 17, 2012 at 2:00 pm at the Open Door Congregational Church, N. 205 Main St., Deer Park, WA.
