Died A Ukrainian hockey coach was found dead of a suspected suicide while in custody in Philadelphia on child-molestation charges, a U.S. prison official said. Ivan Pravilov, 49, was found unresponsive in his cell at 3 a.m. Friday, according to a spokesman for the Federal Detention Center in Philadelphia. A preliminary FBI investigation suggested the death was a suicide, and an autopsy is pending.

Agreed All-Star infielder Asdrubal Cabrera and the Cleveland Indians agreed to a $4.55 million, one-year contract and avoided salary arbitration. The agreement was $75,000 above the midpoint between the $5.2 million he had asked for in arbitration last month and the $3.75 million the Indians had offered.

Dismissed An Indiana judge dismissed a domestic battery charge against former Notre Dame offensive coordinator Michael Haywood, who served briefly as Pittsburgh’s head football coach before the case led to his firing. A St. Joseph Superior Court judge dismissed the charges after determining Haywood had completed all terms of a pre-trial diversion program that included counseling and community service, the county prosecutor’s office said. The state had agreed to dismiss its case if Haywood completed the terms by this month.

Hired The Houston Texans hired Karl Dorrell as quarterbacks coach. A former head football coach at UCLA, Dorrell spent the last four seasons with the Miami Dolphins as QB coach. From 2008-10, Dorrell served as Miami’s wide receivers coach. Dorrell also served as wide receivers coach with Denver from 2000-02, working with several current Houston coaches, including head coach Gary Kubiak.

• Former Memphis head football coach Larry Porter has been added to the staff of new coach Todd Graham at Arizona State. Graham will not announce what specific duties Porter will have until he completes his staff.

Charged Cincinnati Bengals linebacker Rey Maualuga has been charged with assault stemming from a downtown Cincinnati bar incident. Police cited Maualuga, 25, with the misdemeanor count after investigating allegations by a bar employee that Maualuga punched him in the face early Sunday morning.

Deferred Green Bay Packers linebacker Erik Walden reached a deferred judgment agreement to resolve a disorderly conduct/do- mestic abuse charge without pleading guilty.

Announced New York Giants quarterbacks coach Mike Sullivan is leaving the Super Bowl champions to become the offensive coordinator for the Tampa Bay Bucs.
