Area students earn National Merit honors

The National Merit Scholarship program has named three semifinalists from Central Valley High School.

Stephen Lucas, Benjamin Merritt and Andrew Schutts, all seniors, have been named semifinalists, ranking them in the top 1 percent of high school seniors. They will advance in the competition to be finalists in the scholarship program.

Other students at CV have been named National Merit commended students. Joseph Aman, Mitchell Dunn, Kelsey Glynn, Dakota Kliamovich, David Ross, Dallin Squires, Therin Taylor, Alexander White, Ruth Winkler and Emma Zellmer made the list, as well as University High School’s Lauren Nemitz.

Commended students rank in the top 5 percent of all students taking the PSAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test as juniors.
