Kootenai earns berth
Kootenai rallied from a terrible start to overcome Clark Fork 40-36 to win the 1A Division II championship on Saturday in Harrison and clinch a berth to the Idaho boys state basketball tournament at Caldwell, which begins on Thursday.
The Warriors (7-12) fell behind 15-1 after the first quarter but chipped away at the deficit the rest of the game and overtaking the Wampus Cats with a 9-1 edge in the final period behind improved rebounding and defense.
Jake Pfeiffer lead Kootenai with 12 points and eight rebounds with Graydon Mayre adding 10 points.
Clark Fork was led by Stillman Berkley’s 20 points.
1A Division I
Clearwater Valley defeated Lakeside of Plummer 62-56 to eliminate the Knights and advance to the state tournament.
