Obituary: Procunier, Gerald Richard “Jerry”

Age 59

PROCUNIER,
Gerald Richard
“Jerry”
(Age 59)

After a seven month battle with cancer, Jerry passed away peacefully in his Spokane home on January 18, 2012 with his family by his side.
Jerry was born on August 24, 1952 in Spokane, WA to Gerald M. (Jerry) and Rosemary Procunier.

He grew up in Hillyard and graduated from Rogers High School in 1970.

At an early age he began to fly fish.

This ended up being a great pastime he enjoyed his entire life.

In 1974 his parents purchased a piece of property on the east side of Priest Lake, Idaho.

He helped his father build a cabin there.

For many years he would spend his weekends at the lake.

He fished, swam, snowmobiled, and hiked this area.

He truly loved the lake and all it had to offer.
In 1975 he began working for Darigold.

Although the company changed names several times, he worked in the same dairy plant for 36 years.

He was a very active union member and at one point was the shop steward.

He was always supportive of other unions as well.

It was not rare for him to honk and wave when he drove past the picket lines at Kaiser Aluminum.

The loves of his life were his wife, Judy, and their daughter, Jeannette.

He always put these two women first in his life and took very good care of them.

They will both miss his giving and kind spirit.

Jerry also loved many styles of music.

He was known to always be sharing new music with his friends and coworkers.
His family would like to thank Cancer Care Northwest and Hospice of Spokane for all of their love and support.
Jerry is survived by his wife Judy; daughter Jeannette; parents Jerry M. and Rosemary Procunier; and sisters Patti Ball and Michele Benz.
A celebration of life will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, January 27, 2012 at Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home.

He will be laid to rest at Holy Cross Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to Spokane Public Radio, 2319 N Monroe St., Spokane, WA 99205 or Hospice of Spokane, 121 S Arthur St., Spokane, WA 99202.
