Obituary: Spencer, Annette

Age 85

SPENCER, Annette
1926 ~ 2012

Beloved wife, sister, mother, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother passed away peacefully Friday, January 20, 2012 in Hanford, California following a stroke.

Born on February 26, 1926 to Jean Nulens and Rosa Peduzzi in Nivelles, Belgium, Annette was fearlessly loyal to her home country and was proud of her French accent and European heritage.

She met her late husband, Virgil, while he was serving as an American serviceman in the Battle of the Bulge.

She courageously left her home, country, culture, language, and religion to travel to the American West and start a new life with her husband.

Annette and Virgil were married October 20, 1946 and were later sealed in the Idaho Falls Temple on May 20, 1958.

Their marriage was blessed with two beautiful daughters, Dolores and Veronique.

Annette and her young family lived in Phillipsburg, Montana, Le Grand, Oregon, and Idaho Falls, Idaho before taking up long-term residence in Spokane, Washington, where Virgil worked as an air traffic controller.

A long-time member of the Spokane Yacht Club, Annette enjoyed boating and spending time at the club’s Lake Coeur d’Alene property with her family.

She loved the sunshine and spending time at the lake with her grandchildren.

She also enjoyed snow skiing in her younger years.

She traveled extensively throughout the United States, Europe, and Africa.

An Avon representative for over 40 years, she was often one of her area’s top sellers and prided herself on providing personalized service to her clients, many of whom became long-time friends.

An active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she served in many callings and as a French and German language genealogy extractor for many years.

She was also respectful of her Catholic heritage.

An excellent dancer to the Big Band music of Glenn Miller and the World War II era, Annette and Virgil were often the last to leave the dance floor.

She enjoyed singing in her native French and performed at many church and community functions.

She will be remembered for her ability to befriend others, her delicious meals, her flawlessly clean home, her strong spirit, her European flair, and her unwavering loyalty to, and love of her family.

She will always be in our hearts and greatly missed.

Annette is survived by her daughter, Veronique Bellflower (Jerry); her son-in-law, Robert Morley (Dolores); sister-in law, Irene Nulens (Brussels, Belgium); grandchildren, great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her daughter Dolores, her parents, her sister Josette and brothers Ven and Guy.
