Edith Louise

Was born on September 16, 1916 and passed away January 16, 2012.


Edith was the youngest of seven children born to Norwegian immigrant par-ents Herman Mattison and Agnes Brandt.

The family were early settlers of the Columbia river region near Fruitland, Washington where Edith was born.

She was schooled in a one room school that she reached by horseback.

She married George Sims in Wenatchee Washington in 1935.

They lived many years in the Medical Lake, Deep Creek area.

She enjoyed her vegetable garden and preserving the fruits of her labor.

Edith was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, husband George and son George Jr. She is survived by daughter Marion Fietek (mike), daughter in law Jane Sims, grandchildren Steve Fietek (Sonia) Tim Fietek, Eric Fietek and Rebecca Zeutzius (Gregg).

Seven great grandchildren and one great, great.grandchild.

The family wishes to thank Chuck and Toni Foster of Homeshare Healthcare for the care of Edith this past five years.


A Memorial gathering will be held February 4, 2012 at 12 p.m. at the Holiday Inn Express in Cheney, Washington.
