Transferring Center Gilles Dierickx will transfer from Florida International to Washington and be eligible for the 2013-14 season. The 6-foot-11 Dierickx will have three years of eligibility remaining after sitting out next season due to NCAA transfer rules. Dierickx played sparingly for Florida International last season, appearing in 29 games and starting 15.
Signed Notre Dame women’s basketball coach Muffet McGraw has signed a 10-year contract extension to stay at the school through the 2021-22 season. The 56-year-old McGraw led Notre Dame to the national title in 2001 and three other appearances in the NCAA Final Four.
• The Denver Broncos have signed kicker Matt Prater to a new four-year deal, locking up one of the most powerful legs in NFL history. Prater was a clutch performer for the Broncos down the stretch last season with four game-winning field goals.

• Thoroughbred trainer Loyd “Boo” Gentry, who saddled 1967 Kentucky Derby winner Proud Clarion, died of heart failure on Sunday in Lexington, Ky. He was 87.
Arrested Tampa Bay Buccaneers cornerback Eric Wright was arrested in Los Angeles for investigation of driving under the influence after police said he was involved in a crash near Staples Center. Wright, who wasn’t injured, refused to take sobriety tests, authorities said.
Sentenced Federal authorities say former NFL player Johnnie Morton Jr. has been sentenced to two years probation for lying to a grand jury during a criminal probe of his California business associate Neang Chhorvann. The 40-year-old Morton Jr., who played for the Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers, conceded he lied during 2009 testimony.
Decided Stanford running back Tyler Gaffney will give up his final year of eligibility in football to pursue a professional baseball career as an outfielder. He was a 24th-round selection by the Pittsburgh Pirates in June’s draft.
