Flash flood halts traffic on I-90

From Staff Reports

A sudden downpour of rain and hail caused flash flooding in parts of east Spokane and Spokane Valley and brought traffic to a standstill on Interstate 90 on Saturday afternoon.

The Washington State Patrol said clogged drains under the Thor and Freya overpasses caused more than a foot of water to pool on the interstate around 3 p.m. The roadway was not reported clear until two hours later.

A flash-flood warning from the National Weather Service was in effect until 6:15 p.m.
