Tournament action approaching

Tournament time nears for Spokane Valley Baseball teams who had one final league game and a handful of makeups before the start of next week’s single-elimination tournaments.
Blasingame Insurance remains the lone unbeaten and probable top seed for the Midget League playoffs.
In recent games for Blasingame, Zach Kaiver allowed no hits and struck out the maximum nine batters, while Ethan Viles hit for the cycle (single, double, triple, home run) and drove in four runs.
Other highlights: Autocraft’s Mitchell Axtell was 5-for-5 at bat. George Gee’s Brandon Lachford was 8-for-9 in two wins. Dave Desgroslier hit a 3-run homer for Sodorff & Wilson.
Valley Electric improved to 10-0 with a game remaining and clinched top seed in the Pee Wee League. The team has won by an average of 17.6 runs per game and pitched five shutouts.
Sterling Self Storage is two games behind and three others have three losses, including Boston Scientific whose Brandon Bruegeman struck out eight batters in three innings and Dawson Rhodes, who homered and drove in three runs.
Azteca’s Mattingly Krieder went 3-for-3 and Alyssa Amann homered and doubled during a shutout victory.

Spokane Valley Girls Softball
Through July 18
The regular season is winding down in Spokane Valley Girls Softball, a prelude to upcoming double-elimination tournaments.
Home Run Construction and All Wall Construction have run away with the 18U league, six games ahead of third place.
During recent Home Run wins, Baily Riggin hit a homer out of the fenced park. Morgan Shay batted in four runs and Clair McMichael was 4-for-5. Pitcher Sierra Findley had no- and three-hit wins.
All Wall hurler Jessica Mitchell had a 17-strikeout game. Kenzie Buechler was 4-for-4 and Kelsey Oderkirk had a pair of two-hit games.
Unbeaten Team Testcomm has a two-game lead in 14U. Among division highlights, Allison Ternath hit for the cycle and Chelsea Somerlott hit two triples for Donna’s School of Dance.
Chuck’s Girls, MIST and Chase Honey Company share first place at the conclusion of their 12U regular season.
In 10U, VHMC and UNICEP remain tied for first with one loss each. During games last week, third-place Dana Graphics player Ellee Toles was perfect at the plate, including two triples. Teammate Trinity Cobbs hit a home run and triple.
MIST’s Annika Esvelt hit three doubles in one game.
