In brief: Irish dance fundraiser will be Tuesday

GARLAND – The An Daire Irish Dancers will have their last performance of the season at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Garland Avenue Alliance Church, 2011 W. Garland Ave.

The event will include music by The Celtic Nots and fiddler John Sylte and after the performance, a ceili dance, where the An Daire dancers will teach the audience a simple group routine. The performance is a fundraiser to send the advanced performance team to the regional Irish Dance championships in November. There also will be a silent auction.

Tickets are $5 per person with a $20 family maximum.

Boy collecting cans for Meals on Wheels

MANITO/CANNON HILL/RIVERSIDE – Daniel Close, a 9-year-old, has started his fourth-annual aluminum can drive, to benefit Meals on Wheels of Spokane.

Close has his own aluminum can recycling business, “Dan’s Cans.” Aluminum cans may be dropped off at 2111 S. Tekoa St. during the month of June.
