In brief: Swimming pools open next Saturday

SPOKANE VALLEY – The Spokane Valley pools will open for the summer next Saturday. Open swim times are from 1 to 4:30 p.m. and 5 to 8 p.m., daily.

Each pool has a different water feature for all swimmers to enjoy. The Park Road Pool, 906 N. Park Road, has the plunge water slide; the Terrace View Pool, 13525 E. 24th Ave., features the lazy river; and the Valley Mission Pool, 11405 E. Mission Ave., has the zero depth entry pool. Open swim fees are $1 per person; children age 5 and younger swim for free. An open swim pass is $20 per person and is good for 25 visits to any Spokane Valley pool.

Brownlee to perform at Jacklin center

POST FALLS – Folk singer Olivia Brownlee will perform at The Jacklin Arts and Cultural Center, 405 N. William St., on June 22 at 7:30 p.m.

Brownlee hails from the East Coast, but tours the country with her soulful music. The event will include tunes from her albums and a picnic for concertgoers.

Cost is $15 per person or $20 for the picnic dinner, which includes two hot dogs, a beer and a bag of chips.
