Obituary: Ressa, Rose Mary
Age 90
Our beloved Nonna Rosie passed away peacefully June 12, 2012.
She was born July 21, 1921 in Spokane, Washington to Frank and Meri Rizzuto.
Rosie grew up in the Hillyard neighborhood attending St. Patrick’s Catholic School and graduating from John Rogers High School in 1940.
As a proud alum, Rose seldom missed a reunion.
She worked for the Powers Candy Company hand-dipping chocolates and later worked in the COG on the Gonzaga University campus.
She went on to become the infamous “pie baker” at the Bon Marche, baking thousands of pies for store customers over the years.
Rose is survived by her two children, Don Ressa (Joan) of Liberty Lake and Laurie Yarber (Bob) of the Spokane Valley; grandchildren Tony Ressa, Amy Ressa Wohl (Steve) and Adreanne Yarber; great-grandchildren Gracie and Nolan Wohl and Livia and Mia Ressa.
She is also survived by her siblings Frances Garcea, Annie Holcomb and Jack Rizzuto, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Special thanks to the wonderful staff at Park Place Retirement Community.
