Thriving Before, During and After Breast Cancer: Breast Cancer Introduction – The Breast Cancer Introduction Course is one session of a three part series of classes that focus on breast cancer prevention, education, and survivorship support. Open to anyone interested in learning more about breast cancer, prevention, prevention of recurrence, or support during treatment. Series is funded by Susan G. Stretch and Flex Class – One-hour class combines body conditioning, light cardio, pilates, yoga and basic stretching. Focuses on body awareness, flexibility, range of motion, core strength, balance, and stability while improving overall muscle tone. Nutrition Consultation with a Dietician – Spend 15-20 minutes talking one on one with a registered dietician. Bring questions about food or nutrition or a recipe that you would like make healthier. For specific questions about your diet, it is recommended to bring a food diary (two days minimum). An additional family member is also welcome. Stroke and Osteoporosis Screenings – Spokane Valley Good Samaritan Village, 17121 E. Eighth Ave., Greenacres, is hosting Life Line Screening on March 10. Screenings identify personal cardiovascular conditions such as blocked arteries and irregular rhythm, abdominal aortic aneurysms, and hardening of the arteries in the legs. A bone density screening to assess osteoporosis risk is also offered. Packages start at $159. Free Assistance from a Statewide Health Insurance Benefit Advisor – A representative from Statewide Health Insurance Benefit Advisor visits a number of Whitman County Library branch locations each month assisting residents with their Medicare and insurance questions. SHIBA volunteers provide information and counseling to individuals about health insurance and health care access, focusing on Medicare issues along with other health insurance related issues. Marie Fowler will be at the St. John Library, 1 E. Front St., St. John, Wash., the second Monday of each month, 11 a.m.-noon; the Endicott Library, 324 E.
