St. Maries wins 16-2

Ashton Stephenson was 4 for 4 and drove in five runs as St. Maries routed Priest River 16-2 in Idaho 3A District I baseball action Friday at Spirit Lake. The game was called due to the 10-run mercy rule after five innings.

Stephenson went the distance on the mound, allowing one hit.

St. Maries will play Timberlake in today’s district title game. The Tigers advanced with a win over Bonners Ferry.

District 7 1B

Host Northport scored 11 runs in the first two innings and held on to beat Almira/Coulee-Hartline 13-12 in a District 7 1B tournament game.

Josh Konkler picked up the win for the Mustangs.

On Monday at University HS at 1 p.m., Northport will play Odessa for the first and second seeds to state. At 10:30 a.m., Selkirk and ACH will play for the third seed in a loser-out game.

ACH defeated Curlew 5-0 before facing Northport. Drew Isaak struck out 12 in a one-hitter.

At Odessa-Harrington, the host Titans blanked Selkirk 16-0. Markus Smith hit two doubles and drove in four runs as the Titans shut out the Rangers in five innings.

Earlier, Selkirk defeated Wilbur-Creston 8-7 to advance to play Odessa-Harrington.

Stephan Avey’s RBI single in the bottom of the eighth gave the Rangers the win over the Wildcats.
