She was born in Valley City, ND on January 3, 1921 and moved to Washington State as a small child.

She graduated from Marlin High School; last year she attended the all years Marlin High School Reunion, which was her 72nd reunion.

She married Loren (June) Middleton in 1939; they raised five children on a beautiful dairy farm in Chattaroy where they lived for 40 years.

In addition to raising children and working on the farm, Eva Claire worked at Holy Family Hospital for 15 years as a medical aid and communication assistant, a job she thoroughly enjoyed.

She enjoyed playing bridge, played tennis for many years and continued to be an avid fan of the game, traveling, walking, and of course, spending time with her family and friends.

Eva Claire was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, June; her daughter, Marian Dierks; her grandson, Dennis Burgess; her sister, Kathleen Cuccato.

She is survived by her son, Michael of Spokane; daughters Carol Sigurdson (Ray) of Seaside, OR; Diane Gaustad (Dave); and Connie Veter (Don) of Spokane; her son-in-law, Jim Dierks of Spokane Valley; her sister, Paula Olander of Richland, WA; nine grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, numerous great-greats and nieces and nephews.

Eva Claire was a great mom, grandmother, and friend; she was fun loving, loved to laugh, and loved to talk - she will be greatly missed.

Thanks to caregivers at Cherrywood Assisted Living and Hospice of Spokane for their kind and loving care.

Per her request, no services will be held; the family will gather for a private celebration of her life.
