Passed away May 25, 2012 in Spokane, Washington after a short illness.
Joe was born June 3, 1928 in Butler, Missouri.
He served in the U.S. Navy from 1948 to 1952 and was stationed in the United States and Japan.
Joe married Opal Fay Toppetine while living in Idaho.
They later moved to Washington where they raised their five children.
He is survived by his loving wife Fay of 58 years; daughters, Teresa (Lang) Schneider and her husband Jerry and Nancy (Lang) Christman; sons, Mike Lang and his wife Peggy and Patrick Lang and his wife Stacy; grandchildren; Regina and Dorothy Schneider, Mindy Christman and Sheila (Christman) Schaefer, Jesse Lang and Kaitlyn Lang; great-grandsons, Landon and Kylen; sisters, Dorothy (Lang) Horn of OR, Wanda (Lang) Rocks of ID, Rosalie (Lang) Crump of ID, Jerri (Lang) McDonald of UT.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis and Gladys Lang, sister Carol, brother Nolan, son John, son-in-law Ray and daughter-in-law Mary.
A funeral service will be held Thursday, May 31 at 9:30 am at CHENEY FUNERAL CHAPEL, 1632 W. 1ST ST., CHENEY, WA.
Followed by a burial at the Washington State Veterans Cemetery in Medical Lake, WA.
