Eugene William McCarthy,
91, of Spokane, passed away Thursday, October 25, 2012.

He was born September 26, 1921, in St. Paul, MN and was a 51-year resident of Washington.

Gene enjoyed a 44-year career as an aircraft mechanic with Northwest Airlines and
retired as Crew Chief.

Married to the late Dolores King in 1941, they lived in Burien before moving to Spokane in 1961.

As an active member of Emmanuel Presbyterian Church Gene was always busy volunteering, putting his wood-working skills to good use, completing building projects for various churches in the area including Post Falls Presbyterian, the church administrative offices in Millwood and Camp Spalding on Davis Lake.

For the previous 12 years Gene resided at Riverview Terrace where he met and wed Betty Crawford in 2003.

He enjoyed his family, travel, bowling, golf, boating, waterskiing, building and flying model airplanes and card and table games.

He is survived by his son, Bob and daughter-in-law, Ann; grandchildren, Sally Chapman, Jeanie Tomlinson and Casey McCarthy; seven great-grandchildren, Jessica Tomllinson-Salazar, Paul Chapman, Heather Woltemath, Sarah Chapman, Lindsey Tomlinson, Ethan and Josiah McCarthy; and sister, Gladys (Billie) Liss.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 9, 2012 at 2:00 pm at Riverview Terrace, 1801 E. Upriver Drive.

Memorial gifts may be given to Emmanuel Presbyterian Church or Riverview Terrace.
