Deputies seeking armed robbery suspect

Officials say victim knew woman who shot him

Abad

A man robbed of money and shot in the shoulder Sunday morning is expected to live.

Sheriff’s deputies are searching for suspect Crystal L. Abad, 24, in connection with the Spokane Valley shooting that happened near South Bates Drive and Bates Court at about 11:40 a.m., according to a news release.

Deputies say Abad asked to borrow money from the victim and met up with him at the area of 10th Avenue and Pines Road.

He had the money in his hands when Abad grabbed it and jumped into her Jeep and was driven away by an unidentified male driver, the news release said.

The victim followed them in another vehicle, calling her on her cellphone and telling her to pull over. When the car stopped, both parties got out of their vehicles, and Abad is accused of drawing her small handgun and shooting the man.

Police say Abad and the driver then sped away from the scene. She was last seen as a passenger in an early 2000s gold Jeep Cherokee or Laredo with a possibly broken rear tail light patched with red tape.
