Armed robbery suspect arrested
Tue., Nov. 20, 2012
Spokane police arrested armed robbery suspect Crystal Abad on Saturday evening, a week after she was accused of robbing and shooting her ex-boyfriend.
Police spokeswoman Jennifer DeRuwe said Monday that Abad was arrested without incident at 4900 N. Stevens St.
Abad, 24, is suspected of the Nov. 11 shooting near South Bates Drive and Bates Court on Sunday. The Spokane County Sheriff’s Office, which is in charge of the investigation because it happened in Spokane Valley, said Abad had asked to borrow money from her ex-boyfriend and met up with him in the area of 10th Avenue and Pines Road.
After grabbing the money from the victim, Abad jumped into a Jeep driven by an unidentified man and the two fled the scene, authorities said. Abad is accused of shooting the victim with a small handgun after he followed her in a car and called her on her cellphone, asking her to pull over.
Sheriff’s Deputy Craig Chamberlin said law enforcement is still looking for the unidentified male driver. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Check at (509) 456-2233.
