Obituary: Mckeen, Mildred H.

Age 89

McKEEN, Mildred H. (Age 89) Passed away November 20, 2012 at the Fairwood Retirement Home in Spokane.

She was born August 27, 1923 to the late Joseph and Selma (Erikson) Lindquist in Republic, WA and grew up on their homestead.

She received her early education and graduated from high school in Republic.

She married Edwin E. McKeen on March 26, 1942 at Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.

They lived in Republic for 15 years.

Mildred was a Past Worthy Matron of the Ramona Chapter of Eastern Star #74 and a member of the Presbyterian Church in Republic.

She made her own dresses and formals, loved her flower and rose gardens and her cooking specialty was huckleberry pie with a dash of ice cream.

They moved to Tonasket, WA in 1957 then to Omak and to Wenatchee to retire in 1979.

Her husband, Edwin, died in 1987.

She then moved to Spokane in 2008.

Her parents, four brothers and two sisters preceded her in death.

Her survivors include a son, Edwin E. McKeen Jr and his wife Nancy C. of Spokane; a daughter, Marqel S. Gallagher and her husband James J. of Mercer Island; five grandsons; four step-grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.

Mildred requested cremation and wanted a private family service held at the Republic Cemetery.

Services will be at a later date.

The cemetery is on the hill overlooking the Sherman Creek Mountain Range.
