In brief: Porn found on computer results in conviction

From Staff Reports

A Spokane man was convicted last week of several crimes related to his involvement with child pornography.

Glenn A. Sapp, 52, was arrested in February 2011 after a man who bought a computer from Sapp said he found images and videos showing Sapp sexually abusing a young girl. A camera card stolen from Sapp and turned over to investigators also contained sexually explicit images of children.

Already a level 1 sex offender because of a conviction in Chelan County, Sapp was convicted Wednesday on five counts of communication with a minor for immoral purposes, two counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, two counts of first-degree rape and two counts of first-degree child molestation, the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.

Car theft suspect arrested in minutes

Police say they caught a car thief in north Spokane minutes after the theft at gunpoint was reported.

A report that a man had held a gun to a woman’s head and stolen her car brought police to 4100 N. Division St. on Friday night at 8:19 p.m., a news release from the Spokane Police Department said. Searching the area, police spotted the car leaving nearby NorthTown Mall.

Using their vehicles, police trapped the car in the Office Depot parking lot across Division and took the driver, 25-year-old Michael Lezard, into custody on suspicion of first-degree robbery and possession of a stolen firearm.

While working at the scene, police saw another car across the street that had been reported stolen and arrested its driver, Stephen Link, 46, on suspicion of possession of a stolen vehicle and drug crimes, the release said.
