Two men stabbed; suspect in custody

Two people were stabbed at a Spokane tavern early Saturday during an argument in the parking lot.

Spokane police responded to the Special K Tavern on North Market Street about 2:28 a.m. and found one man with a serious knife wound to the neck and another man with a knife wound to the left side of his head.

Witnesses said the assailant and victims got into an argument, and “the suspect suddenly began stabbing the victims,” police Sgt. Kevin King said. The assailant fled southbound on foot.

Another officer saw a person matching the man’s description at Market Street and Courtland Avenue, then saw the man throw a knife into a nearby field.

Police arrested Donald L. Dyson, 42, and booked him into Spokane County Jail on two counts of first-degree assault. The victims were transported to a local hospital for treatment.
