Promoted The University of Oregon promoted Robert Johnson to head coach of its track and field and cross country teams, while Vin Lananna focuses on administrative duties. Oregon athletic director Rob Mullens said Lananna will pursue larger-scale national and international events for Hayward Field, which hosted the U.S. Olympic track trials earlier this summer. Johnson has been at Oregon for seven years, serving as associate head women’s coach for the past three.

Acquired A fan of Muhammad Ali acquired an important piece of memorabilia: the boxing great’s Louisville, Ky., boyhood home. Las Vegas real estate investor Jared Weiss closed on the property earlier this week. The new owner wants to restore Ali’s boyhood home to how it looked when the future champ lived in it.

Sidelined Purdue Boilermakers quarterback Robert Marve re-torn the ACL in his left knee and will be out at least a few weeks. It’s the third torn ACL of Marve’s injury-riddled college career.

• Add a fractured tibia to Olympic champion McKayla Maroney’s injuries this summer. Maroney was injured Sunday when she fell on her uneven bars dismount during the second stop of a 40-city gymnastics tour. Her leg is in a brace, and she and her family are consulting with doctors on treatment. She missed the second day of the U.S. championships in June because of a concussion and a nasal fracture, and competed in London despite a break in her right big toe.

Agreed The Boston Bruins agreed with forward Tyler Seguin on a six-year, $34 million contract extension. Seguin, 20, led Boston with 29 goals and 67 points last season, and posted a plus-34 rating.

Suspended The United States Anti-Doping Agency said sprinter Debbie Dunn accepted a two-year suspension after testing positive for a prohibited substance. The 34-year-old Dunn finished fourth in the 400 meters at the trials in June. She was selected for the American relay pool, but took her name off the team roster before the London Games after her positive test for excessive testosterone.
