Obituary: Lemieux, Lola Jean
Age 86
The family moved to Spokane when she was 11 years old.
She attended Washington Primary School (grades 1-8), then Lewis and Clark High School, graduating in 1944.
She later attended 1 year at Washington State college (WSU), focusing on art.
Jean married William E. LeMieux in 1952 at her parent’s home.
In 1962 they welcomed their first child, JoAnn.
In 1966, they welcomed their son, James William.
Through the years, Jean worked as a waitress at the Top Hat restaurant and sales clerk for the Crescent Dept.
Store, mostly in the Records section selling LP’s.
When children came along she decided to stay home while volunteering and becoming active in the PTA.
When the children were well established in school, Jean took training to become a Speech Therapist for School Dist.

She loved working with children and worked at that position for 19 years, retiring twice!
She was also a proud representative for the Spokane Education Assoc.
and Washington Education Assoc., attending many state and national conventions.
Jean retired for the last time at the age of 72.
Jean was preceded in death by her Sister Wanda in 1991 and husband Bill in 2006.
She is survived by her daughter, JoAnn Cooper (Gary); son Jim LeMieux (Shelley); grandchildren, Ryan Sherman (Tiffany), Rachael Graham (Chris), Elizabeth and Jaime LeMieux and Michael Cooper, all of Spokane; three nieces, Janice Kaler (Claude) and Marla Vanos, of Spokane, Janice Rowe (Rich) of Lynnwood, WA and a nephew, Lance Orton (Laura) of Deer Park, WA, and their children and grandchildren.
The family wishes to thank Rockwood Cancer Care and Hospice of Spokane for their wonderful care and support during this difficult time.
Jean wished to be cremated and we will honor her with a “Celebration of Life” reception at Commellini Estate, 14715 N. Dartford Dr. 99208 on Aug 25 at 11:30am.
Friends, family and former coworkers are welcome to attend.
