Obituary: Nygaard, Stanley Dean

Age 63

NYGAARD, Stanley Dean (Age 63) A much loved husband, father, grandfather and brother passed away peacefully at his home on August 12, 2013 surrounded by his family, after a brief battle with pancreatic cancer.

Stan was born to Carl and Helen Nygaard in Spokane, WA on April 30, 1950, the eldest of 10 children.

He grew up in Spokane and graduated from Shadle Park High School in 1968.

He attended BYU, where he met the love of his life, Lucy, on a blind date.

They were married for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on February 13, 1973.

Stan was a life-long, active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

He served a two year Church mission to Oslo, Norway from 1970-1972.

Stan enjoyed serving in the church - especially his calling of many years as the ward clerk in the Spokane 2nd ward.

Stan was a journeyman electrician and member of IBEW Local 73 in Spokane.

He worked for many years with his Dad at Industrial Electric service and also for many contractors in the Spokane area.

Stan enjoyed hunting and target shooting.

He was an avid motorcycle enthusiast!

But, his greatest joy was his family.

He was comforted in the knowledge that Families Are Forever!

Stan will be greatly missed by his wife of 40 years.

Also his children, Stephanie (Brian) Howes, Spokane, Andrew Nygaard, Chapel Hill, NC, David (Leah), Honolulu HI, and Kevin, Spokane.

His cherished grandchildren, Ashley, Hailey, Payton and Braeden Howes, Malyla Nygaard and Noah, Ethyn and Brooklyn Nygaard.

Also survived by his brothers Scott (Priscilla), Adrian (Melinda), Stephen (Rachel) and Richard Nygaard, and sisters Brenda Burch, Christie Nygaard, Katrina Anderson, Wendy (Ron) Truman and brother-in-law Bryan Gail.

Stan was preceded in death by his parents and sister Janie Gail.

The family would like to thank all those who have been so kind and helpful during Stan’s illness.

They will never know the great impact they have made on our family.

Viewing will take place at Heritage Funeral Home, on Friday, August 16, 2013 from 3:00 - 6:00pm.

A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, August 17, 2013 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints 2nd ward building, 732 W. Indiana, at 11:00 am.

Viewing will take place from 9:30 - 10:30am at the church.

Interment will follow at Fairmount Memorial Park.
