Obituary: Winters, Shawn Thomas

Age 38

WINTERS, Shawn Thomas December 29th 1974 - August 21st, 2013 Shawn was tragically taken from us in a motorcycle accident in Airway Heights, WA.

He was born in Tampa, FL and grew up in San Diego, CA.

Shawn moved to Spokane in 1990 with his mother and attended Bowdish Jr. High and University High School.

He was previously employed by Vision Quest Siding Co. and most recently employed by Lone Wolf Harley Davidson.

He loved his Harley and his Harley Davidson family.

He was an avid snowboarder and enjoyed long rides on his beloved Harley Davidson motorcycle.

If it was fast, loud, and fun, it was Shawn’s favorite thing to do.

Shawn was also determined to master the game of golf, although he readily admitted Tiger had nothing to worry about.

Nobody was a stranger to Shawn and he loved to help friends and family with whatever task was at hand.

He was preceded in death by his father, John F. Winters and survived by his mother, Pamela (Jerry) Poindexter, sister Bethany (Patrick) McCabe and his nephews Jadon, Gavin and Hunter as well as many, many friends he considered family.

He is also survived by a large extended family in St. Louis, MO and Newark, O.

Although Shawn encountered many bumps in life, he had a kind heart and an easy smile and was loved and cherished by all who truly knew him.

Shawn’s family would like to extend appreciation and recognition to the huge circle of friends who have stepped in and sheltered him in times of need, led him to a better path, and went out of their way to provide opportunities for a bright future.

We want you to know that because of you, this past year has been one of the best years of his life.

Getting together with friends and family was what he enjoyed the most.

The family is making private arrangements, a memorial service will be held at a future date.
