Here we go again.
It’s a new season, which means everyone is undefeated – even yours truly. Take these picks to Vegas and bet the farm on them, unless you don’t have a farm, in which case a $20 bill and some pennies will do.
All games Saturday, except the ones that aren’t. Lines for entertainment and doubling-your-kid’s-college- tuition-fund purposes only.
Utah State at Utah (tonight), Utah by 3: Utes enter this one with revenge on their minds. They’ll get it. Utah 31-23.
USC at Hawaii (tonight), USC by 22.5: Max Wittek or Cody Kessler? Won’t matter this week. USC 38-10.
Northern Arizona at Arizona (Friday), UA by 34.5: Perfect break-in game for B.J. Denker, who should have no problem with Lumberjacks. UA 45-17.
Nicholls State at Oregon, UO by 59: Stay far, far away from a line like this. As far away as Nicholls should stay from the Ducks. UO 63-3.
Eastern Washington at Oregon State, OSU by 26.5: Beau Baldwin’s boys don’t cower to Pac-12 opponents. Beavers should handle ‘em, but won’t roll. OSU 35-21.
Washington State at Auburn, Auburn by 15.5: Both of these teams have a mysterious quality about them. So we’re going with the home squad. Auburn 34-23.
Nevada at UCLA, UCLA by 21: Wolfpack won’t fly under the radar. They’ll wish they had. UCLA 41-17.
Boise State at Washington, UW by 3.5: Maybe the most evenly matched opener in the Pac-12. Hard to see Huskies losing big Husky Stadium debut. UW 31-27.
Northwestern at California, NW by 6: Can Cal’s Sonny Dykes gear up the Air Raid quicker than WSU’s Mike Leach? Maybe. But not this quickly. Northwestern 28-20.
Colorado at Colorado State (Sunday), CSU by 2.5: Can’t justify picking Buffs on the road after last two seasons (with perhaps one exception). CSU 24-17.
