Simms impressive in Jets’ win over Eagles

Matt Simms, competing for the Jets’ No. 3 quarterback job, led four scoring drives, Kahlil Bell had two touchdown runs and New York beat the Philadelphia Eagles 27-20 in the teams’ preseason finale in East Rutherford, N.J., Thursday night.

The son of former Giants star Phil Simms was 33 of 44 for 285 yards for the Jets.

Lions 35, Bills 13: At Orchard Park, N.Y., looking like someone who’s had just three days practice Matt Leinart struggled in his debut for Buffalo, completing 3 of 10 passes for 11 yards and two interceptions.

Redskins 30, Buccaneers 12: At Tampa, Fla., Pat White set up one touchdown with a 66-yard completion and ran 7 yards for another TD to help Washington beat Tampa Bay.

Panthers 25, Steelers 10: At Charlotte, N.C., Ted Ginn Jr. caught five passes for 149 yards and two TDs to lift Carolina over Pittsburgh.

Derek Anderson completed TD strikes of 87 and 35 yards to Ginn.

Jaguars 20, Falcons 16: At Atlanta, Jordan Todman ran for a TD and Mike Kafka threw a fourth-quarter scoring pass to Jeremy Ebert as Jacksonville beat Atlanta.

Patriots 28, Giants 20: At Foxborough, Mass., Tim Tebow threw two TD passes and one interceptionand New England beat New York.

Tebow was 6 for 11 for 91 yards. He also gained 30 yards on six carries.

Bengals 27, Colts 10: At Cincinnati, Andy Dalton completed his only pass and led the Bengals to a touchdown in his only drive – one that took four minutes to finish – and Cincinnati beat Indianapolis.

Dolphins 24, Saints 21: At Miami Gardens, Fla., Miami third-string quarterback Pat Devlin threw for 259 yards, including a 56-yard pass to Marvin McNutt on fourth-and-4 with 3:02 left for the winning score.

Vikings 24, Titans 23: At Minneapolis, Jake Locker went 3 for 5 for 31 yards and led the Titans to a field goal as Tennessee played many of their offensive starters in the exhibition finale.

Texans 24, Cowboys 6: At Arlington, Texas, Case Keenum and T.J. Yates each threw a TD pass in their battle for the backup QB job, leading Houston past Dallas.

Chiefs 30, Packers 8: At Kansas City, Mo., Tyler Bray, an undrafted rookie out of Tennessee, threw for 169 yards and three touchdowns to lift Kansas City over Green Bay.

Browns 18, Bears 16: At Chicago, Brian Hoyer threw for 307 yards and a TD as Cleveland beat Chicago.

Rams 24, Ravens 21: At St. Louis, the Rams avoided their first winless preseason since 2002 on an 8-yard touchdown pass from Austin Davis to Chase Reynolds with 2:40 to go. Cardinals 32, Broncos 24: At Denver, Ryan Lindley threw for two TDs for Arizona in a victory over Denver.

Gerell Robinson caught five passes for 99 yardsfor Denver.

49ers 41, Chargers 6: At San Diego, Colin Kaepernick threw a TD pass to cap his only drive, and San Francisco roughed up San Diego.
