In brief: Shooting critically injures man in Seattle

SEATTLE – A suspect was at large after a shooting left a man in critical condition in Seattle’s University District.

Seattle police say officers patrolling the area heard the gunshots at about 2 a.m. Saturday and found the victim on the ground. KIRO-TV reported the man was taken to Harborview Medical Center in critical condition.

Police said a bullet entered his chest and exited near his groin. Investigators said one witness reported seeing the shots being fired but didn’t see much else because he was trying to get away.

Dale Aramaki, who was visiting his daughter for Thanksgiving, told KIRO he heard the shots and saw the man clutching his stomach and collapsing as he stumbled away. Aramaki said he saw people performing CPR on the victim.

The motive for the shooting remained unclear.
