Obituary: Axtell, Beulah

Age 104

AXTELL, Beulah (Age 104) Beulah Axtell was born on September 5, 1909 to John and Addie (Hansen) Bauer on her parent’s farm eight miles south of Wilbur, WA she passed away on November 27, 2013 in Spokane, WA.

She grew up in the Wilbur area and started her education in a rural school and graduated from Wilbur High School.

She married Gordon Axtell in Spokane, WA on January 16, 1932.

They lived on the family farm raising wheat and cattle for 35 years before retiring to Wilbur in 1968.

Gordon died in 2001.

She moved to Vista Manor in Wilbur in August of 2002, after that closed in May 2012, she moved to Brookdale at Harbor Crest in Spokane and then to Trustmark one month ago.

In addition to raising her family of four she was always interested in arts and crafts.

She took up oil painting, pottery, family genealogy, family photographs and making stuffed animals and was a member of the Wheatridge Grange.

She got her first computer at age 90 and enjoyed keeping up with the family via the internet when she was over 100.

Beulah is survived by three children Ralph (Ginny) Axtell of San Antonio, TX, Lloyd (Jacqueline) Axtell of Portland, OR and Kay Wilson of Portland, OR along with ten grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter and her sister Barbara Clinton of Spokane, WA.

She is preceded in death by her husband Gordon in 2001, son John in 1985 and her brother Dale Bauer in 2000.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, December 7, 2013 at 1:30 PM at the Wilbur Cemetery, Wilbur, WA with Pastor Roger Hudson, officiating.

Memorials may be made to the Wilbur Swimming Pool.
