Obituary: Long, Henry Harrison

LONG, Henry Harrison “Hank” Passed away December 7, 2013.

Born August 10, 1927 in Haxby, MT.

Henry grew up in Spokane, attended John Rogers High School.

He served in the Army 1945-1947, stationed in Japan; returning home he worked in the round house for the railroad in Hillyard.

He and his wife bought an 80 acre farm near Newman Lake.

There he worked for the U.S.

Postal System delivering mail.

He drove school bus and later he and Delores bought and ran the “Rocking L” Restaurant in Newman Lake.

He was in the Local Operator’s Union, along with two of his brothers.

He helped clear timber for miles of electrical lines throughout Washington, Idaho and Montana.

After Delores’ death, he later met and married Dorothy Longly in 1969.

They and their combined family lived on their farm in Clayton, WA.

Henry and son owned the local company, Long Excavating.

Henry was preceded in death by his mother, Lizzie; father, Joe; brothers, Guy, Bill and Ernie; sisters, Ann and Helen; first wife, Delores and second wife, Dorothy.

He is survived by brother, Rusty Long and sisters, Esther Richter (husband, Bill) and Ethel Petit; son, Randy Long (wife, Taffy); stepchildren Doug and Esther Longly, Joe and Chris Longly; Jacquelyn and Tom Eckley and Julie Longly; ten grandchildren and their spouses; nine great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews who all loved him very much.

We will all remember his mischievous smile and the twinkle in his eye as he teased you with a flash of his dry wit.

Services will be held Friday, December 20, 2013, 1:00 pm at Grace Church of Deer Park, 502 N. Colville Rd., Deer Park, WA. ‘

He will be greatly missed.
