Chiefs blank Silvertips

Spokane 4-0 against Everett

Tyler King scored his first goal of the season midway through the first period and Mike Aviani added another in the third period to give the Spokane Chiefs a 2-0 victory over the host Everett Silvertips in a Western Hockey League game on Sunday.

Aviani, with 26 goals, has the second-most goals in the league behind teammate Mitch Holmberg, who has 37.

Spokane (21-12-0-2) climbed into a tie for third place with Seattle at 44 points in the Western Conference’s U.S. Division, and are two back of second-place Everett (21-10-4-0, 46).

The Chiefs are 4-0 against the Silvertips this season.

Eric Williams made 29 saves against the Silvertips. He has the Chiefs’ only two shutouts this season, both against Everett. He lowered his goals-against average to 2.49.

The Chiefs are now off until Dec. 27 when they play Kootenay in Cranbrook, B.C.

• Spokane scored the game’s first two goals but the Braves fell 4-2 to the Summerland Steam (15-12-1-2) in KIJHL action at Summerland, B.C.

Sean Collins and Dillon Bogart scored for the Braves (12-19-0-3).
