People: Probation revoked after Brown’s arrest

From Wire Reports

A judge on Monday revoked Chris Brown’s probation after his recent arrest on suspicion of misdemeanor assault in Washington, D.C., but the ruling will not alter the singer’s requirements to complete rehab and community labor for his 2009 attack on Rihanna.

Superior Court Judge James R. Brandlin cited details contained in an arrest report as his reason for revoking Brown’s probation for the second time this year. He ordered Brown to return to court Feb. 10 for an update on his progress in rehab.

Prosecutors did not request that Brown be sent to jail during Monday’s hearing.

In November, Brown was ordered to spend 90 days in a treatment program for anger management and other issues. Brandlin said probation officials reported the Grammy-winner was handling the program well in recent weeks.

Brandlin reviewed Brown’s October arrest report filed after a man accused the R&B singer of hitting him outside the W Hotel in Washington. Brown and his bodyguard were initially charged with felony assault, but the case was reduced to a misdemeanor. Brown has been ordered to appear in a D.C. court on Jan. 8.

Louis-Dreyfus, Leno in Hall of Fame

The Television Academy is adding six new members to its Hall of Fame, including former “Seinfeld” star Julia Louis-Dreyfus and “Tonight Show” host Jay Leno. They’ll be joined by media magnate Rupert Murdoch, writer-producer David E. Kelley and network executive Brandon Stoddard. Sound pioneer Ray Dolby will be inducted posthumously.

Yearwood, McBride drop SeaWorld

More entertainers have canceled their appearances at SeaWorld Orlando following the recent release of “Blackfish,” a documentary that raises questions about the effects of captivity on whales.

Representatives for Trisha Yearwood and Martina McBride confirmed Monday that the country singers have joined the ranks of recording artists who have pulled out of performing at the park’s February concert series, Bands, Brew and BBQ. They joined 38 Special, Barenaked Ladies, Willie Nelson and Heart in canceling their appearances.

Styles wins paparazzi case in court

A British High Court judge has ordered paparazzi to stay away from One Direction member Harry Styles.

The order from Justice Nicola Davies bars several photographers from pursuing the singer by car or motorcycle, placing him under surveillance and loitering or waiting within 164 feet of his home.

Styles’ lawyer, David Sherborne said the 19-year-old “is not trying to prevent fans approaching him in the street and taking photos. He remains happy to do that, as he always has.”
