Pace picks up Riverside in win over Chewelah

Marisa Pace scored 14 points and grabbed 10 rebounds as Riverside claimed its first Northeast A League win of the season by beating Chewelah 50-46 Friday night at Riverside.

A total of 45 fouls were called – 23 on Riverside and 22 on Chewelah. The Rams (3-3, 1-1) converted 28 of 41 from the line and the Cougars (2-4, 1-1) were 16 of 28.

Chewelah’s Sydnie Katzer scored 16 points and Kara Fredrick and Kaitlin Krouse added 10 apiece.

Kettle Falls 58, Medical Lake 42: Erin Johnson scored 17 of her game-high 21 points in the first half and the Bulldogs (6-2, 1-2) beat the Cardinals (3-4, 1-1) in Medical Lake. The Cardinals struggled from the free-throw line, making just 9 of 28. Maleeka Wegner scored 12 points for Medical Lake.

Northeast 2B

Northwest Christian 67, St. George’s 37: Rachel Bozlee made 7 of 11 3-pointers on her way to 23 points and the Crusaders (7-0, 3-0) cruised past the visiting Dragons (2-5, 0-3). Chanel Knight contributed 18 points and Treasure Farmer added nine assists for Northwest Christian. The Dragons were led by Ceci Berquist and Hailey Higashi with 16 points each.

Lind-Ritzville/Sprague 53, Reardan 33: Jenna Bennett scored 13 points to help the Broncos (2-2, 2-0) defeat the Indians (1-5, 0-3) in Ritzville. Lind-Ritzville/Sprague outscored Reardan 14-3 in the first quarter to gain control. Tessa Jantz added 10 points for the Broncos. The Indians were led by Maddie Johnson’s 16 points.

Colfax 63, Springdale 33: Amara Huber scored 15 points and the Bulldogs (4-1, 3-0) forced 47 turnovers in a win over the visiting Chargers (1-7, 0-3). Nicole Sheer recorded 11 points, 12 rebounds and three steals for Colfax. Springdale’s Emily Sulgrove finished with 12 points.

Southeast 1B

Rosalia 42, Garfield-Palouse 40: MacKenzie Reddish scored a game-high 22 points and the Spartans (3-0, 2-0) edged the Vikings (3-4, 1-2) in Palouse. Payson Griner scored 13 points and Sammi Johnson pulled down 10 rebounds to guide Garfield-Palouse.

• LaCrosse-Washtucna/Kahlotus’ game at St. John-Endicott and Colton’s game at Liberty Christian were postponed by weather conditions.

Nonleague

Lake City 55, Clarkston 44: Hailey Jackson made four 3-pointers and finished with 14 points as the Timberwolves (7-2) surged in the second half and beat the Bantams (2-3) in Coeur d’Alene. Whitney Meier added 11 points for Lake City, which outscored Clarkston 35-24 in the second half. Jaclyn Meyers tallied a team-high nine points for Clarkston.

Post Falls 61, Lakeland 37: Sam Reynolds scored 13 points and the Trojans (5-6) cruised past the Hawks (3-9) in Rathdrum. Lakeland was led by Kaidan Kelsey with 18 points, eight rebounds and two blocks.

Freeman 52, Cheney 25: Katie Vold scored 18 points and added six rebounds as the Scotties (2-1) pulled away in the second half and beat the visiting Blackhawks (1-3). Sierra McGarity added six points, eight rebounds and four steals for Freeman.

East Valley 43, Timberlake 40: Alex Rankin scored 17 points and the Knights (6-0) edged the host Tigers (5-4) at Spirit Lake. East Valley capitalized on costly Timberlake turnovers late in the fourth to gain the lead for good. The Tigers were led by Jessica Norlander with 15 points.

Sandpoint 51, Bonners Ferry 17: Madison Schoening scored 25 points and the Bulldogs (6-5) were in control from the get-go in a win over the visiting Badgers (1-5). Sandpoint outscored Bonners Ferry 14-3 in the first quarter and led 38-8 at the half.

Newport 47, Lakeside (Idaho) 23: The Grizzlies opened the game on a 15-0 run and eased past the Knights (4-5) at the Priest River Tournament. Holly Malsbury led Newport (5-1) with a game-high 24 points. She also had 10 rebounds, four assists and three steals.

Wilbur-Creston 52, Republic 38: Kaelee Reed scored 18 points and the Wildcats (7-0) dominated through the first three quarters in a win over the visiting Tigers (6-1). Savannah Bowe and Makenna Weltz scored 11 points apiece for Republic.

Odessa-Harrington 54, Liberty 50: Casey Schlomer scored 15 points and the Titans (3-3) edged the host Lancers (3-5). Liberty got 21 points from Christine Denny and 17 from Aly Tee.

Wellpinit 67, Northport 1: Jada Colvin had 11 points and 10 assists as the Redskins (3-2) forced 47 turnovers and overwhelmed the visiting Mustangs (0-8).
