Obituary: Bushue, Mary E.

BUSHUE, Mary E. (Age 93) Passed away December 21, 2013 in Davenport, WA.

Mary was born on March 16, 1920 in Ypsilanti, Michigan to Earl and Bridget (O’Connor) Hawker.

As a young girl the family moved to Illinois where she attended and graduated from St. Boniface High School.

After high school Mary went to Mercy Hospital in Champagne, IL where she got her nursing degree.

She married Lawrence Clark and they had two daughters Mary Ann and Lauren.

Lawrence passed away in 1945.

Mary later married Carl Bushue on October 25, 1947 in Bell Garden, CA and moved to Spokane in 1948 and they had two children Patricia and Michael.

Mary and Carl were members of the St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church for 63 years and Mary was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church for the last 2 Ă‚Ë?

years.

Mary and Carl built and operated the Smokey Trail Campground and RV Park west of Spokane, WA from 1959-1993.

After Carl retired in 1987 they traveled extensively with trips to Australia, Alaska and other parts of the US.

Mary enjoyed pinochle, crafts, knitting and crocheting, she was active in the ladies society at St. Francis.

She was a talented seamstress and taught all her children to sew- even Mike.

She enjoyed meeting people at the campground & RV Park.

She went back to school and received her AA in accounting where she was the bookkeeper for the family business.

She was the “go to” for any financial advice.

She was a great role model and proud of her children and grandchildren.

Education was important to her and loved to see each of them succeed in whatever they chose to do in life.

Mary is survived by four children Mary Ann Pederson, Lauren Bushue, Patricia Pebles, Michael Bushue and 8 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren, her brother Lawrence Hawker and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by husband Carl Bushue in 2011 and four brothers Ed, Paul, Joe and Dan Hawker.

Rosary service, Friday, December 27, 2013 at 7:00 PM at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Davenport, WA.

Funeral Mass, Saturday, December 28, 2013 at 10:00 AM at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Davenport, WA with Father Roy Floch officiating both services.
