Growing up in Spokane, she learned to play piano, sing duets with her sisters and accompany her brother who played the clarinet.
During the late 1940’s she conducted the choral program at Woodland Park Methodist Church in Seattle, and was instrumental in establishing an organ fund to purchase an instrument for the church.
Margaret was a member of the Mayflower Society of Washington, holding the position of Corresponding Secretary for over 30 years.
She was instrumental in obtaining approval for and establishing the Eastern Washington Chapter, based in Spokane, which was named the Margaret Hyre Chapter.
She was also a member of the Elizabeth Bixby Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Towne Society of Washington.
She is survived by her son Kary and her many beloved nieces and nephews.
