Authorities identify driver in fatal crash
Authorities have identified the woman who hit and killed a pedestrian on state Highway 2 on Tuesday night.
The driver was Sara Babcock, 20, of Chattaroy, according to the Washington State Patrol.
Investigators say the pedestrian, who they have not yet identified, was intoxicated while walking north in the highway’s right lane at 8:21 p.m., about four miles north of Spokane.
The pedestrian, an adult female, was transported to Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center, but was declared dead at the hospital.
Babcock, who was driving a Ford Focus, was uninjured.
The WSP is investigating, but no charges have been filed.
Authorities will release the pedestrian’s identity after her family has been notified.
