Obituary: Haneke, Twyla L.

HANEKE, Twyla L. Twyla Haneke left her earthly body on July 17, 2013 to join her husband, Red Haneke in eternity.

She will be forever loved by her children, Walt Haneke, Roberta Bagley, Billie Serbell, Janet Rosman, Delores Fletcher, and Jim Haneke, their spouses, eleven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

All who ever knew Twyla were given the gift of her joy, energy, loving spirit, and lots of great food.

Twyla knew sacrifice and hard times.

She was raised during the Depression, graduating from high school in Chewelah.

She started adulthood during World War II working in Tacoma, WA.

She made the best of any situation and shared the optimism with everyone.

While raising six children in Spokane Valley, she opened her home to her uncle for the last years of his life, and helped take care of her mother in her declining years.

She stayed in daily contact with her sister, Arlene Schulz, and was preceded in death by her brothers, Milton Wilson and Roger Wilson.

Twyla was one of those people who others instantly liked.

For many years, she bowled and was active in the Women’s Bowling Association, eventually being elected President of the Spokane Chapter, and later inducted into the WBA Hall of Fame.

She rarely missed any event her children were participating in, always encouraging fair play and 100% effort.

Priest Lake was a favorite spot for Twyla and Red.

They enjoyed their place at the Lake as a gathering spot for their sons, daughters, grandchildren, friends, and neighbors.

There was never too many, that they couldn’t accommodate more.

For the first few years of their retirement, it was their year around home.

After her husband, Red, passed away, Twyla cooked part-time for Grandview Resort at Priest Lake, to help fill the time while adjusting to her loss.

The celebration of Twyla’s life will take place on Thursday, July 25, 2013 at 10:00am in the Colonial Chapel at Hazen and Jaeger Valley Funeral Home, 1306 N. Pines Road, Spokane Valley, WA 99206.
