Obituary: Drader, Bonnie Jean
She was born July 17, 1933 in Dover Idaho.
Bonnie started working at the age of 14 at the Albertsons Soda Fountain in Lewiston Idaho.
This began her career in the restaurant industry.
It became her lifelong work where she spent many years as a waitress and cook, as well as owning and operating restaurants in West Salem Ohio, Hillyard and Mead Washington.
Bonnie enjoyed dancing and country music.
She loved Loretta Lynn and the song “The Coal Miner’s Daughter.”
Her other favorite things included working jigsaw puzzles, going to rodeos, any kind of pasta dish, and a good hot cup of black coffee accompanied by some juicy gossip.
She also enjoyed dining at her favorite place The Sportsman with Stan and her family on weekend mornings.
She was known for her famous turkey dressing and for hosting numerous family holiday gatherings through the years.
Bonnie loved to tease and play with children.
Bonnie and Stan spent many years after retiring to help care for and raise their grand nephew, Cole Barker, who everyone knows was her “pride and joy.”
Bonnie is survived by her son Chriss George, stepson Scott (Kathy) Drader and their children Tasha and Chella, sister in law Vivian Wendt, sister Laurel (Ben) Gittings, sister Susan Forsman, brother Larry (Georgette) Wendt, sister Virginia Caldwell, brother Michael Winslow as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Stan Drader, daughter Pauline George, grandson Greg George, parents Fred (Bud) and Merle Wendt, father Forrest (Frosty) Winslow, brothers Roy Lee Winslow and Donald Wendt.
A graveside service will be Tuesday, July 30 at 1:00 PM at Holy Cross Cemetery, 7200 N. Wall followed by a celebration of life at Bonnie’s residence 5222 E. Farwell Rd., in Mead.
