Obituary: Wilcox, Betty (Age 85)
After mom married “Pop” Howard, we moved to Spokane where I graduated from Lewis and Clark.
Later, after a blind date, I was blessed by a wonderful husband, Bill, who gave me a good country life in Moran Prairie, then Glenrose and later in Greenacres.
We raised four children (Julie, Connie, Rick and Bonnie) and from them have 12 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren.
With numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends we fished, camped and had parties.
People visiting my home, or with the 4-H, Glenrose Goons, Sweet Adeline’s, Spokane Sheriff Posses, Glenrose Greenhouse and Spokane County Fairgrounds (where I worked), Pushie Grandmas, bowling and at Orchard Crest; always people around me.
Whether you call me Mom, Mama Bear, Grandma, “Old” Aunt Betty or just Betty, my life has been blessed by all of you.
I never felt alone, for at least one or more of you were always at my home.
You may have come because of the coffee chats at the kitchen counter, the pool parties, or the vegetables in the garden; but you came and I loved you all.
Your sharing of the thousands’ stories, pictures and loving faces lifted me and gave me great joy.
Someday we will share again, but for now I share them with those (Bill, mom, sis ….) who have been waiting for me.
With my sense of directions, I only hope I don’t get lost on the way.
Come and join my family at a Celebration of my Life on Saturday, June 8th at 2PM at Orchard Crest Retirement Center, 222 S. Evergreen, Spokane Valley, WA 99216.
The service will be at the Gazebo, or in case of bad weather, the Activity Room upstairs.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to Hospice of Spokane.
Come, talk, enjoy each other as you always have and remember the life you have blessed so much.
Thank you all!!
Do pigs fly?
You betcha, and so do I!
