Obituary: Massey, Dorothy (Eidal)

Age 88

MASSEY, Dorothy (Eidal) Dorothy (Eidal) Massey passed away peacefully on May 29, 2013 in Spokane Valley, WA with her family by her side.

She was born on November 22, 1924 in Seattle, WA to Otto C. and Edith (Middendorf) Eidal.

She spent her childhood, and was educated, in Black Diamond and Langley, WA.

She graduated from Langley High School in 1942.

She married Frank Massey in 1945 and they moved to Yakima, WA in 1949.

She relocated to Spokane Valley, WA in 2006 to be closer to family.

Dorothy retired from West Valley School District in 1988, having worked for 30 years as secretary at Mountainview Elementary and West Valley Junior High School.

She was a member of the Eagles Auxiliary, the V.F.W.

Auxiliary, and was a 50 year member and past matron of Order of Eastern Star.

She is survived by son, Gary (Liz) Massey of Spokane Valley WA; daughter Barbara Bolm of Shelton, WA; five grandchildren, Matthew (Heather) Bolm of Port Orchard, WA, Teressa (Kirk) Oberg of Puyallup, WA, Ryan (Heather) Massey of Yakima, WA., David Massey and his fiancĂŠe Andrea Scott of Spokane Valley, WA, Courtney Massey of Seattle, WA; sister Helen Barnhart of Ellensburg, WA, six great-grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Dorothy was preceded in death by an infant son in 1951, her father in 1956, and her mother in 1992.

She was loved by many and will be greatly missed by all.

A memorial service will be held at KEITH & KEITH FUNERAL HOME, 902 W. YAKIMA AVE. YAKIMA on Saturday, June 8, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. Inurnment will follow at the Ellensburg, WA IOOF Cemetery at 2:30 PM.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Lilac Blind Foundation, 1212 N. Howard St. Spokane, WA 99201 or to the American Cancer Society.
