Obituary: Gates, Betty Lee (Hoff)

GATES, Betty Lee (Age 87) On June 3, 2013, at the age of 87, Betty Lee (Hoff) Gates passed peacefully to be with her Heavenly Father surrounded by her beloved husband, Don, and loving family.

Betty was the youngest daughter of Norman and Arrah (Pitner) Hoff, born November 17, 1925 in Spokane, WA.

Before going overseas she married Don in San Francisco, CA on February 9, 1945.

Don and Betty were blessed with two boys, Timothy Lee Gates of Spokane and the late Robert Gates.

She was loyal and loving to her husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, who brought her great joy and happiness.

Cherished memories include summers spent with her husband and family at their cabin on Bead Lake.

Words cannot express how much she will be missed.

Betty is survived by her loving husband of 68 years, Don Gates; son, Tim Gates (Sue); grandchildren, Kim Czapla (Nick), Brynne Schmaltz (Paul), Tyler Gates (Darci); step-grandchildren, Justin Chissus (Jen) and Aaron Chissus; great-grandchildren, Hailey, Gracie and Owen Czapla, Hannah and Evan Schmaltz, Jensen and Karly Gates; and step-great-grandchildren, Grayson and Kylie Chissus of Spokane.

Preceded in death by her parents, Norman and Arrah Hoff, sisters, Norma Burnett (Fred) and Lucille Browning (Alva), and son, Robert Gates.

A memorial service in honor of Betty will be held at Thornhill Valley Chapel, 1400 South Pines Road, Spokane Valley, WA, Friday, June 14, 2013 at 11:00 AM.
