Obituary: James, Leland

Age 57

JAMES, Leland (Age 56) Passed away on November 7th, 2012 at his home near Springdale, Washington.

Leland was born Leland James Fehrs on Junuary 22nd, 1956, in The Dalles, Oregon.

Leland is survived by his mother, Terry Simpson, Hamilton, MT; daughter, Jillian James, Vancouver, WA; sons Kristopher and Scott Hayden and grandchildren, residing in Canada; sister Vicki Heard, Hamilton, MT; brother Joe Fehrs, Grangeville, Idaho and brother Steven Fehrs, Lincoln, MT; granddaughters Mattie and Nani Heard, Hamilton, MT and grandson Kris James, Hamilton, MT.

Lee is also survived by his former wife Jacqueline James, many nieces and nephews and his dog Huck.

Leland joined the Air force at the age of 17 and loved his job as an Aircraft mechanic.

He was stationed in Okinawa, his son Kristopher was born there.

While visiting family in Washington state he was shot by a Sniper Fode near Sprague, WA and was left disabled with over 100 pellets in his head, three directly in the brain and the loss of an eye and hearing.

Lee was just 20 at the time.

Lee resided in Spokane and then the Hunters area.

He traveled in a converted school bus with numerous friends to varied places.

Leland and wife Jackie purchased 43 acres in the Springdale/Ford area and Lee resided there until his death.

He had a large group of friends in the area and there always seemed to be people around to help with his projects.

Lee especially enjoyed his young grandson Kris who lived nearby at the time.

Lee had a gentle, kind and giving nature and will be missed by all of us that knew and loved him.

He was definitely one of a kind.

On Saturday, June 29th, 2013 at 11:00 a.m., there will be a Memorial Service at the Mountain View Cemetery in Davenport, WA in memory of Lee, with a luncheon following.
