Obituary: Semerad, Alice
Age 97
Alice was born in Dickinson, North Dakota, March 25, 1916, to Mary and Joseph Kostelecky.
She grew up in a soddy working on the family farm along with her seven brothers and sisters.
She married Ed Semerad in 1934 and they moved to Spokane in a self-made travel trailer.
Together she and Ed raised four children.
She worked for 18 years at the Crescent and enjoyed many days at the family cabin at Priest Lake.
She bowled and danced, played Bridge and any other card game.
Her competitive spirit came through in all these activities.
She had a green thumb and a way with a paint brush.
Among other duties, she was an active quilter for the Altar Society at St. Aloysius.
She is survived by her children Ken (Virginia), Duane (Joan), Sandy (Tom), and Keith (Karen); 11 grandchildren, and 23 great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband and her siblings.
A funeral Mass in honor of Alice will be held at St. Aloysius Catholic Church on Tuesday, June 25th, at 11:30 AM, preceded by a 10:00 AM Rosary at Hennessey Funeral Home.
Reception at O’Malley Hall and burial at Holy Cross Cemetery to follow.
