John is survived by his wife, best friend and soul mate, Linda; a son, Derek; and three stepdaughters, Karin, Heidi and Elizabeth.

He leaves behind grandchildren Katie and Trevor Millhorn, AJ Bowman, Ava, Naomi and Myles Kessler and many nieces and nephews, especially Julie and Leslie and their families.

Also, he leaves behind his sister and brother-in-law, Sandra Duffy and Mark Gunderson, and loving companions Binx and Emily.

John is preceded by his mother and father; wife, Mary; a sister, Bernice; and brother Harlan; and father-in-law, Albert Gunderson.

After graduating from Mead High School in 1954, he served both in the Navy and Army.

He was bestowed a great honor of serving as a member of the Old Guard and performed his duty at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

For 29 years, he worked at URM, retiring in 1994.

Camping and fishing were two of the many activities John enjoyed.

He and Linda loved the many hours they shared at Beaver Lodge on Lake Gillette and the many years they lived in their cabin at Deer Lake.

He was always busy as an avid bowler, golfer, card player, cross-stitcher and reader.

He loved watching the Gonzaga Bulldogs and was so proud of them this season.

As a member of the Open Door Church, he was active on the Outreach committee, serving as supervisor and trying to keep the ladies in line.

John loved life and his enthusiasm was catching.

Whenever you were with him, you had a great time.

He is leaving a void in many hearts and will be truly missed.

The family would like to thank Dr. Kwasman and Faye for their many years of care and friendship.

Services will be held at the Open Door Church on Saturday, May 4th, at 1:00 P.M. Officiating is Rev.

A gathering at the Eagles to honor our friend will follow.
