Obituary: Caughey, Doris Guess Knight
Doris was born in Baker City, Oregon; was only six months old when her father died; and at three years of age moved to Spokane with her mother Edith, and sister, Sally.
In Spokane, Doris worked at the Crescent Dept store, and later as a meat wrapper at Stajers IGA on South Hill.
She was a long time member of Fowler Methodist Church, a member of the Gray Ladies, and did volunteer work at the Veterans Hospital.
Mama is survived by her daughter Diane Jo Knight Moody (Lynn); brother Stephen Ferguson (Marjorie); grandson Steven Moody (Sue); great-grandchildren Courtney and Parker Moody, and Branden Valentine; her step daughters JoAnne Caughey Jensen & Jacqueline Caughey Gibbons; several step grandchildren and step great-grandchildren; three nephews and two nieces.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents; father-in-law Jack Knight (founder of Knight’s Diner); husbands Joel Jack Knight, and Thomas Caughey; sister Sally Guess Taskey, brother James Ferguson; one niece; two nephews; one step grandson; and one step granddaughter.
To quote her grandson; “She was loved by everyone that knew her, and was such a special lady.
I know all grandmas are great, but she was one for the ages”.
Mama, you are deeply missed.
