Fire burns 2 unoccupied homes at Deer Lake

DEER LAKE, Wash. — A fire has burned two unoccupied homes near Deer Lake Resort, about 25 miles north of Spokane in Stevens County. TV news reports say the fire started late Tuesday night in a home that was for sale and spread to an adjacent summer home. The first home was destroyed. The second is severely damaged. A Stevens County fire department prevented flames from spreading to other structures.
